With news of hundreds of new jobs coming to the county, growth in inevitable. Greene County may, at some point in the next few years, grow to being a two traffic light county.
We have temporary status as a two-light county with this portable traffic light doing traffic control duty at a resurfacing job on the bridge over Hardin Creek just east of Jefferson on Highway 30. The eastbound lane is now closed to traffic, and the traffic lights are set to allow traffic to travel in the westbound lane. The signage will be changed when it’s time to work on the westbound lane. The entire job should take another two weeks or so.
In the meantime, allow a little extra travel time and savor what it’s like to be held up by traffic without a train or a farm implement involved.
